Sort of, anyway. After looking for free flower avatars, I find myself very unsatisfied. I'm going to make my own, and I figure I should make an Icon Pack while I'm at it.
For this reason, I would like some advice on what flowers to take pictures of. I'm going to shoot with white background, black background, and then edit in transparency for a third background option at a later date. Right now, I'm looking for types of flowers, though if you have unusual and beautiful colors in mind, let me know. I plan on getting as many color options as I can.
Oh, the floral companies are going to loooooove me very shortly, heheh.
So far, my list (I'll update it):
Rose, Tulip, Irish, Violet, Daisy, Sunflower, Hyacinth, Iris, Snapdragon, Hydrangeas, Callas, Pansies, Lilly, Tiger Lilly, Stargazer Lilly, Poppies, Gardenia, Honeysuckle (vine), Jasmine (vine), Azaleas, Blue Bells, Snowdrops, Periwinkle, Lotus, Narcissus Daffodil, Gerber Daisy, Orchids, Bird of Paradise, Heliconia, Pitcher Plant, Venus Fly Trap, Baby's Breath _________________ . Hyacinth's are gorgeous, and you can find them in tons of different colors.
The same goes for Irises and Snap Dragons. Hydrangeas too. All of the above would probably force you to get creative with your angles, lighting, and so forth, simply because of size and form.
Any sort of Lilly would work as well - Lillis are are highly photogenic, even for a flower. They would probably provide the best contrast against a white background - softer hued Callas would be gorgeous and would make good minimalist photos, while something like a Tiger Lilly or a Stargazer Lilly would be a lot of fun to experiment with.
Pansies as well - and you can get them pretty much all year round. You could also experiment with vines such as Honeysuckle and Jasmine - both of which can easily be found growing by the roadside.
Lets see, what else . . .
Poppies and Gardenias would also provide excellent contrast and some dramatic effects on a white or black backdrop.
Erm, got a bit carried away there . . . >>; _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Lilacs, azaleas, blue bells, snowdrops, snapdragons, irises, snow-in-summer (not really a flower per se, but it is a flowering shrub), periwinkle, lotus, Narcissus daffodils...
Just to give you some more options.
Most of the ones I've mentioned have small blooms, and would look gorgeous with some macro-photography. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Orchids.
Also, Bird of Paradise, Heliconia, and even though not technically flowers - pitcher plant and venus flytrap. _________________ I do commissions!
