Some new pictures, from the fall colors and sunsets!


This is the Capital building in Charleston. It really is gorgeous to look at, and with the sunlight reflecting in the golden dome against a crystal clear sky, it's even more gorgeous.


This picture doesn't do the colors justice at all. I wanted to play with the signpost on the side of the image, did it work out? o_o


I caught this image one night after coming home from work and looking skyward (like I always do). Lunar halos aren't especially rare, but they are gorgeous to look at!



These two are of the same rainbow (can you see the double rainbow?! ), after a fairly stormy day. Yesterday, in fact. The sky was dark, and the cloud cover blocked everything but a strip of bright sunset against the trees. The effect was pretty awesome.

And now, for sunsets. The first, the golden light as the sun sunk into the horizon. The bright orange light bathed everything in an almost surreal golden glow.

Mmm.
And then the sun set, and painted just the clouds.


Whenever I feel like it's a vicious, terrible struggle that I'm just slogging through to see how long it takes, I fall back to something a psychiatrist told me just over a year ago, now. "Find something beautiful."

I expect to see that first rainbow picture on DA, because it is absolutely gorgeous (You might want to crop the attention-starved power line out of the top corner though) and I want to favorite it. o_o

Color correction is your friend, Tenshi.

Done just by fiddling with the Levels adjustment in Paint.net.

You'll note that although the colors are much more vivid in the right-hand version, some of the paler colors are now washed out. For example, there are some streaks of pale blue sky in the upper right which basically vanished during correction. A really thorough job of this would apply the color correction selectively to the non-sky areas, but I didn't feel like masking it off.

Truth told, I haven't booted to Windows since I took those pictures. o_o Paint.net is my preferred photo editing software, but I can't run it on Ubuntu. Or, more accurately, I haven't tried emulating it with Wine.

GIMP, for whatever reason, just does not jive with me. I'm just not used to it, I guess.

At my school, every senior gets an entire page in the yearbook with which to do what they they please. Mine was gonna be goofy, but then I decided to make it slightly less so. Also, it's in 3-D... if you have red/cyan glasses, yay!

Main problem with the trembly hands is that the camera moves when you press the button.
