Maybe so, but I turned off animated GIFs years ago. In my browser, nothing moves less'n I say so.

Anybody willing to lend a hand helping me upload a new avatar? It's been a long time since I've uploaded one and I don't seem to remember how to do it anymore. I tried uploading from Photobucket but I kept getting a message saying it was the wrong file type so I tried to upload from my computer but then I got a message saying the file size is wrong and I've no idea how to change it.

Advice anyone?

Okay, what kind of picture editing programs do you have? Paint Shop Pro? Photoshop? The Gimp? Or are you limited to jus' plain' ol' Microsoft Paint?

There are no exceptions to the size rule this time around, so watch your pixel size and file size. Microsoft Office has the ability to compress pictures.

File size is tricky, and likely will require an editing program capable of toning down quality or removing data from the image. If you're using Windows, I suggest Paint.Net. If you're using Linux, or Windows there's always GIMP. I personally find the interfaces for Paint.Net a bit more intuitive, but a lot of people find GIMP more capable.

I'm honestly not sure of what software is available for Macs, not owning one myself.

For file size you have a few options. First, make sure your avatar is the required 100x100 pixels. Then try saving in a format like .GIF, or .PNG. These are more streamlined formats, and tend to contain less data (smaller file sizes) when compressed. Saving in fewer colors can also help lower file sizes. Honestly, I think .GIF is your best bet for such a small size.

If you'd like any help, information, or whatnot with avatar creation drop me a line. Happy to offer what I know. ^_^
