So, I noticed the RPG Thread hasn't been used since 2010.

Eek. o.o

I really, really, really want to start an RPG thread, but if no one is going to join, then it would be a pointless effort.

Sooo... I guess the question is, is anyone interested in an RPG? I don't have all the details worked out (...yeah, okay, I really have very few details worked out yet, lulz), but just to throw a few things out there...

Theme: Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Setting: Post-Apocalyptic
Rating: PG-13+ (For the possibility of language, violence, adult scenarios, etc - NO PORN; Romance is acceptable.)
Challenge: Let's make this non-cliche! 8D
Final Thoughts: No, there are not aliens. There are, however, subhumans (humans with supernatural abilities - NOT SUPERNATURAL CREATURES), and mutants. **Edit: Also, possibly genetically altered humans or "cyborgs" or some such. Possibly. Depending on how it all goes. o.O;;;

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions are welcome. I'd love to hear your feedback. Like I said - let's try to make this non-cliche! 83

Flames will be cheerfully used to roast marshmallows over. I love s'mores. <3

You know what I think would make it even more fun, though this is only a thought,.... I know you can't actually do this, but it would be cool to have those interested register with new names of the characters they intend to use, to create new personas,... that way we can sepereate characters from the people we all know.... and I think I might be interested,.... only because I've never actually done anything like this before.

There's an RPG section for a reason - you can post this there. We try and keep the various conversations separate as regards topic, so that we can keep things clear. Perhaps a mod would be willing to move this thread for us.

But regarding RPGs: for the most part, people seem to be too busy to maintain activity. We've tried and faltered several times, but we can't seem to stick with it what with Real Life being so difficult. Also, the major gamers have slowly been dropping out of the forum. But you're more than welcome to try and get a game going, you might get lucky!

Regarding new profiles: I, personally, am against that idea. We have never had problems with just using our accounts before, and it would be needlessly complicated. Plus it's a good way to rack up post counts! Very Happy Why would you give that up? ^_~

That's the problem I saw with it. Unfortunatly for me, I have come from forums in years previous where doing such things with an account was grounds for banning, ie., starting a thread to rack up a post count. I don't always know from forum to forum what would be correct, and what wouldn't.

That said, I was thinking more in terms of a Masqurade Party type game. While partaking in Abby's thread, no one would know who anyone else was, and add to the illusion....

The one which did work was the wink murder (anyone remember that?!) It was short enough that people weren't having to commit for yonks and yonks, and quite lighthearted. The only reason I've not started it again is uni work, but that will be over soon. I'd be up for a longer game too over the next few months and this does sound fun ^_^

Well, actually, we could still do that. Everyone would choose a character, and then in the intro thread would be a randomized list of everyone's character. Then, in-game, each player would SPEAK as their character but not actually give their character's name. Then we would be able to try and guess who's playing which character.

And for some reason, I can only think of the Clue characters when I talk about that scenario. My favorites were always Col. Mustard and Mrs. Peacock. *shrug* ^_^

I might be up for an RPG Lite - we've had a few of those before. Anyone remember the party house game? And we've occasionally opened holiday parties, too.

Regarding creating accounts for post count: That, actually, is the reason the Game thread has self-deleting games if they're not played for too long, and why the threads are deleted after 50 pages. In the old forum, titles were given based on post count and people were abusing it in the games thread. In the new forum this is no longer the case, but we still don't want post-spammers. Everywhere else, however, it's expected that posts are to be on-topic and contribute to the discussion. And it's still nice to see a rising number under your name, isn't it?

I'd be up for a month- or summer-long RPG. Smile

Alright, so how about a murder mystery? One person would take the character of the killer, but can't reveal who s/he is. Then the rest of the players have the summer to figure out and/or catch the murderer.

Not sure how that'd work. Whenever I've thought about how to get away with murder its always seemed really easy.

But it could be fun! Detectives/murderer's Not something I've tried roleplaying before ^_^;

Exactly how we played the wink murder game. The GM and the murderer are the only ones who know the identity of the latter, and the GM sends PMs to the ones murdered to keep it all secretive. Once the game was over (either when the murderer was discovered or when everyone died) the murderer took over as GM for the next game. Each game only lasted a couple of months and was like RPG lite. It was good fun ^_^

Someone claim it, it'll be fun. Count me in, too.

The last one was in a ski resort - anyone remember that? That was fun!
