Oh yes, I remember this webcomic! I didn't know it was still publishing.
Today I've decided that apparently, G-d didn't like my rationalization for using my water bottle during Pesach - I lost it at the fair on Monday. Oh well. I suppose can buy another one.
EDIT: This evening (9:30) I realized that I spent all afternoon working on the wrong presentation. I have one due Sunday which I forgot about. I haven't even read the article yet. And I have only tonight and part of tomorrow morning to prepare it. Dagnabbit.
EDIT2: Fortunately, here at 10:15, I remember that I have two hours in a bus tomorrow, so if I buckle down, I think I'll be able to pull it together, on paper at least. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Today I received my copy of the Hunger Games trilogy, but I'm right in the middle of reading the latest Discworld novel, Snuff.
If I could read them both at once I would! *sigh* I will probably finish Snuff first though. Though, I'm sorry to say, it isn't Pratchett's best work. Vimes is far to wordy in this one - it's rather out of character. I find myself wondering if it's a sign that Pratchett's Alzheimer's has started to affect his work, but then I wonder if I'm reading too much into it because I know he has Alzheimer's.
Anyhow, first post in the new "Today" thread! WOOOOOooo... yeah. I will try to post here more regularly and stop being such a lurker on my own forum. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

Omigosh! It's updating again! It went on like a two year hiatus and I'd given up hope. ^______^
Lady: When you do get around to reading THG, I hope you enjoy it!
Today we did a class workshop for the first group's stories.
Today the second group has to post their stories online so everyone can read them and prepare their critiques. Oh wait, I'm in the second group. Meep.
Today I'm going to try not to have a nervous breakdown about workshopping. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

It can be brutal, but remember that you can do it to them when it's their turn. ^_^
Today I"m still in Dimona. Why? Because of this presentation. And also, shabbat ended late and I wasn't sure I'd make the connecting bus home. So I"m staying here and doing my presentation on Google Docs' Presentation maker, which is an inferior interface, with an inferior keyboard. Well, I'll get it done at least. Then I'm going to wake up at 4:30 to catch the morning bus to Beer Sheva with my hostess, and hopefully the buses will be running in Tel Aviv by then.
That's the plan anyway. I'm missing out on a big Moroccan party to do this stupid thing.
Today I hope Tenshi and his dad are doing all right. Hopefully no news is good news, right? I also hope Tin is/was having/had luck with his interview. Who else had things happen? I hope Alli is having fun in Greenland... and I hope Nu is having luck dealing with her annoyances. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Today I finished reading Great Expectations. Right, my mother and everyone else was right. It's a wonderful book. I loved it.
Ironically, I'm the only person in my class who did. I'm also apparently the only one in my class who found it hilariously funny. >>;;;
Today my mom is back from New York! Yay! It's a good thing, because now things can start falling apart. Like my dad.
A week ago my dad hurt his back. He went to work out of town for a week and when he came back on Friday, he'd hurt his leg badly in addition to the back injury. When I came home from picking my mom up at the airport today he had a large, bloody band-aid on his chin. *sigh* What's he going to do next?
Yesterday I got to hang out with a very old friend of mine. She's graduating from college in two weeks. Where did the time go? Oo;;; _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Great Expectations was my grandfather's favourite book. I need to get round to reading it, after The Selfish Gene.
So... I'm in Svalbard.
WHEE!
It's taken so long to get here but it was totally worth it. The days are full of adventure and the evenings are long and laid back. I've made some friends, hooked up with some old friends, seen some dog sled races, done some exploring (although not too much because you can't go outside the town without a rifle [polar bears and all that] and we haven't had the training yet). I'm going on a week long research cruise (SQUEE!) but that does mean I'll miss my cousin's wedding (*cry*). We have almost 24-hour daylight, and it is still very cold (to the tune of -10 celcius) but not so cold as to be unbearable. _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

Hope Tenshi's okay - haven't seen him on MSN lately - but then again I've been sleeping earlier in the day, so that's not much info.

Today I wonder where the bruise on my waist came from. I went to karate yesterday but I don't remember anyone hitting me. Unless I just caught myself with my elbow or something.
Today want to do some exercise - but I went running on Friday, and did karate on Saturday so..... Probably be counter-productive. :/ _________________ Never forget,

Well, Nem, you do plenty of mental exercise, so I think it balances out.
Today the presentation went well. I got a little bit of work done after classes (printed out a pile of articles), but not nearly as much as there were hours in the afternoon. I really have to get started on that. It's frustrating that I'm crawling out of one hole just to realize how deeply I'm buried in another.
One of my professors is really taken with a story I wrote back in high school. She wants me to teach it to the class in place of my assigned reading, and also is thinking of sending it to a literary magazine back in the States. I have to tell you, it's a rather heady feeling for someone to be so pleased with my work. Doesn't happen too often. ^_^ _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Tenshi is still kicking around. Haven't gotten rid of me yet, I'm afraid.
My father's doing well. He's now fully recovered from his surgery, and is just working on rehabilitation. His improvement is really remarkable, and he's now better than he was before his operation. We're all quite pleased for that.
Thank you all for your concern. I hope you're all well! I'm sorry for not replying more specifically to each of you. Know that whatever trials you endure, you do so with my support and well wishes. All of you, all the time. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Glad to hear everything's going well with everyone. ^^
Today at 3ish I got a phone call from my work, "Where are you?" Crap. I called to see if I was on the schedule on Wednesday, and whoever answered the phone said I wasn't. Wrong. Cue running about to get into uniform, gather necessities, and get out the door. Cue breaking speed limit laws for the next twenty miles.
I was supposed to meet to go over my group presentation (Which is tomorrow. AHHHHHH), but since I was working, I was going to be late.
Managed to make it to the meeting an hour late. Bleh.
Tomorrow I have nasty public speaking for the presentation. Ew. I hope this goes ok . . . _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Take a deep breath, and remind yourself to slow down. You really can never speak too slowly (unless you're running out of time), and nerves always make you speak faster. Speak slower, gives your thoughts time to catch up with your mouth, and you'll find it easier to string your ideas together. Good luck, Nu! You can do it! _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Don't worry. Presentations are an awful way to give people information anyway and chances are they'll only remember a rough summary. Tell them what you're going to say, say it, then tell them what you've said.
Primacy and recency effects (the tendency for people only to really remember the first and last thing you said in a sequence) are incredibly powerful.
Good luck! ^_^

Glad to hear you're okay Tenshi! ^___^

Today still can't find my black folder - which has my important documents in it. Think maybe the father has put it somewhere without telling me. >_>
Found my driving license counterpart though ^_^ I was starting to fear I'd done something intelligent with it - like put it with the other documents =p _________________ Never forget,

Well, presentations over, thank heavens. Ugh. I honestly don't remember a single thing I said. Probably babbled like an idiot. ><;
My professor had this really weird look on her face the whole presentations. Not a good sign.
I hate group projects.
Today I'm going to go watch movies and forget that I gave a presentation this morning. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Today I made a page that shows you colors, for kicks.
Here's the default color, a foresty green:
http://meliogeny.net/colorpicker/
And here's a nice, thirsty orange:
http://meliogeny.net/colorpicker/ef6712
And now for something blue:
http://meliogeny.net/colorpicker/315683
The font is "Tangerine". The frame image with the sitting lady came from a 1903 newspaper ad for "California Fig Syrup".
Why did I do this, you ask? What's it good for, you ask?
Meh. It was a way to kill an evening. Have fun noodling around with the color picker for a few minutes before you get bored. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |
