@Tinu: On the other hand, it did get the current President Elect to voice his support for the opposite side of the issue. So I suppose if your state is going to do something wildly unpopular, they chose the wildly popular "against the president" option to do it with!

Today, I made the appointment for surgery with the neurosurgeons. It's kind of scary, to be perfectly honest. It's also disheartening, as this won't take care of all of my issues. Still. I suppose it's enough to be able to walk without assistance again, and I can work on the rest or just deal with it on my own. Being able to walk will be nice.

Today I started watching "Avatar: the Last Airbender" and got through season 1.

Today you started the anime? And no, I don't think so. I'd love one of those.

Usa, good luck in surgery. Walking is rather important...

Today I went out to lunch in hopes that I would get something done (after lazing in bed all morning). However, I forgot my headphones, which makes it more difficult to concentrate by quite a bit. I did finish coding one transcript for class, and these are the things I still hope to do:

~ Finish an application (DONE)
~ Find articles for a seminar paper (DONE)
~ Begin coding a third transcript (BEGUN)

In order of importance.

EDIT: Achieved two out of three, begun the third, but I need to go back to my apartment and listen to proper music, and get out of the vent path from the cigarette smoke outside. Also, to put the leftovers in the fridge. This was a good experiment, next time I"ll remember my headphones and maybe it'll work even better.

Tenshi, good luck with the surgery, when is it?

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm slowly getting used to doing things one handed.

Sugery isn't until the 24th.

Today was moderately productive. I played tech support for the home network and for my brother's new phone. Now I need to finish up some craftswork and mail the results.

I got my grades back today. Not as bad as I was expecting, actually. I managed a 1.75 GPA this semester, which is brutally poor (and drops me below a cumulative 3.0 for the first time in my college career). However, I was expecting a 1.0 or worse, so... I'll take it. I didn't fail any of my classes! Small miracles.

Today, I swear to all that is swearable to, I will not falter like this again.

Today a friend showed me this remix. For any Minecraftians out there who also like techno, (or even if you just like techno), this may be right up your alley.

No, no it is not.

Well wishes on your surgery, Usa.

Today my grades came in. Straight A's. This hasn't happened since . . . uhh . . . I was maybe eight or nine years old? I love my major. ^__________^

Today my sister called me at half past midnight to inform me that it was International Monty Python day. Family is a strange thing.

Uck. Internet's down at home. I'd forgotten how boring reality can be.

Ha. He pretty much guaranteed that my state won't vote to re-elect him.
Not that I'm sure he won the state last time, but he definitely won't this time.

*sigh* Politics.

... Is the mind-killer =p

Today I-net still not up. Found some old manga on my comp that'll hopefully serve a while to keep me entertained.

Come to think of it - the internet goes over the phone line and the phone.... Can't be working - well, I get a line busy notice when I try to call in anyway....

Wonder how that's interfacing with the magic job hunt. I always put my mobile number down, yet for some reason people keep on discourteously calling me at home :\ wonder whether more people have tried to call and not been able to get through.

-shrug- ah well, whatever.

Trying to stay up all day again, reset sleep cycle... Gonna be a long day. Being awake during daytime in the summer is never much fun at the best of times. Six in the morning, currently pushing 23 deg... =p

If the above post is spelt poorly, the phone is to blame for not having a spellchecker.

Today we went to a boot sale, met a giant dog and bought a bunch of extra-cheap DVDs, including one we've only heard of through this forum: Pan's Labyrinth. Settling down to watch that now, thought you'd like to know.

Yeah, elections. I've got two to vote in come the end of the year. And I never liked them in the first place. However, I DO think that people who have the ability to vote should do so, because I believe that people should take at least some part in their own governance. My true opinion is actually phrased in the negative: If a person doesn't vote, he loses the right to complain afterward. If a person doesn't want to vote, that's up to him, but then he should complain about the government he's left with after the election - since he didn't help determine that government.

Mmmmmmmmmmmyeahno. We're going to continually complain about the goverrnment regardless of whether we voted for them, against them, or abstained. Again: we don't believe there's any difference between the choices. They're all unreliable, untruthful, impulse-driven self-interested humans.

If we don't choose whether to hang or to burn, are we not still allowed to complain about getting killed? (Up until the fact, obviously.)

Today got a shiny new karate belt ^_^ Didn't expect to but, apparently it went better than I thought. So, yeah. That was most of the morning (and a fair chunk of the afternoon) for me.

Looking back over mah records you can definitely see the times I was away for a bit. Huge four year chunk where I only graded once. Whereas the average the rest of the time is something like once every ten months.

Talking of surprising things and martial arts. I'm continually surprised how few martial arts include... symmetrical drills. There's probably a technical name for it but.... Things where one side does an attack the other side does a defence and you alternate at a very high rate of repetition. Or a small sequence of attacks and defences repeated over and over. Training some situation specific reflexes in.

There was this black belt, not at the club I go to - another club. Who got herself beaten half to death by a greenbelt. Not in their club either, outside of it. And I've got to wonder... maybe that's the why of it. All that knowledge - but no effective practice to make it relevant.

Of course it's also possible she just lacked any... instinct for it. Some people can't summon the determination of a cute little bunny rabbit until the situation has become completely irrecoverable. Can't make that decision that they're going to do or go to X, and if you come inbetween them and X, then that's just too bad.

-shrug-

Ho hum. Still, good day all in all.

So apparently, I only have one election - the government here somehow decided to not go to the polls after all... I don't really get it. What I heard is, two of the three major parties have new leadership after internal primary elections, but the third hadn't had a chance to do that yet, then the first two decided they weren't going to fight with each other anymore and called off the election. *shrug* I'm sure I have that 96% wrong, but then again, I don't follow the news, so that was second hand.

Today I'm babysitting for my third cousin once removed, who's asleep. Other than updating the forum and looking up second degree fanart, I have articles to find for uni, and I want to talk to my mother on Skype before I go to bed.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers on the forum. ^_^

Today I am sick. Actually, yesterday and the day before too, but today is especially miserable.

Worse, I need to haul myself out of bed, take a shower, put on some clothes, and go out. I've run out of food and cough medicine, so ... yeah.

I hope you feel better, Tin!

Today it rained all day. By noon we had three inches, and it's just started pouring again. More rain to be had on the morrow, which means whenever the sun does come out we're basically going to be breathing water.

Bleh, Summer.

I hope you fell better soon Tin.

Yesterday I had an appointment at the hospital, they did an x-ray and decided they could remove my cast and replace it with a lighter one. I can move my arm around a little more now and sort of use my hand but it's still quite restricted. I'll have to wear this cast for five weeks and then it'll be about a month before I can horse ride again.

Today I have no plans to do anything.
