K'thonya can bend metal to her will. Hinges are pretty simple structures, all truth being told. Two plates and a pivot.. >> Totally legit. Or, if we find a forge/furnace somewhere in Haven, that would work too. ^_^ _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Right but technologically, who introduced the concept? Hinges used to be leather straps and wooden pins, before they evolved into what we recognizably have today. It'd be easy for her to make them, but who taught her in the first place? _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Challenge accepted!
So glad I didn't draw him with legs first ^_~
His name is Gregor and he can use his extra limbs for holding thread or complex weaving. He has 10 limbs because I drew him in a hurry
I can't quite work out what K'Thonya's arms are doing in the last panel. It kinda looks like one's been amputated _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

Huh - yeah - spider-types are not what I had in mind, truth be told. Though interesting, interesting indeed.
I like the incentive. I don't know enough about the series to know what all the numbers mean, but I'm pretty sure I picked up on your signature...
Oh! My book arrived, finally! And I like the little Gwen sketch. ^_^ Thank you! _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Or pet spiders! Maybe they're still dwarf-like things, but the remnant is the gnome's memory of learning the tribal secret of spider taming...
Here's a question, we've only ever seen one example of a particular species. Is it even possible for more than one to have soulstone from any particular planet? Or once one builds up a soulstone, that's it? So there was the first gnome who decided to stay, like Nanashi, then one day, boom! Another one shows up, who's filled in by the first, and also decides to stay...
Related question: do the soulstone carriers (I forget the name for them - children?) age on Earthsong? I'm pretty sure we covered this one (no, right? Otherwise Nanashi would be old/dead?) but I can't remember. So if the second gnome was the opposite gender to the first, perhaps they got together and had children? And that's how we have enough manpower (gnomepower?) to create enough clothing for everyone on the planet? Otherwise there'd be a huge backlog and/or everyone would only have one suit of clothing. Though that might explain why it took so long to get around to replacing Willow's dress...
Tertiary question: If the soulstone carriers don't age, does that mean all bodily functions are frozen? Like, CAN they have children? Obviously they need to eat, and what goes in must come out, so SOME functions seem to be working, but would it be possible to procreate at all?
And the fact which renders all of this moot: The page refers to a single visitor, not plural. So no clothing gnomeS, anyway.

Lady, I love those playing cards! Could you make them available for purchase by us poor souls who have to miss Cons to work? _________________

Nanashi and the Gaian who named Beluosus were both on Earthsong at the same time, until the latter got his soulstone accidentally brutally ripped out.

They definitely don't age, nor do they grow (see: Tehmel / Alyss), although they apparently can heal (else Tengu's wing would still be broken from where Felucca stepped on it). Conception is probably covered under "growth." _________________ You can't look dignified when you're having fun.

Honestly, Lady, are you putting this whole side-trip adventure (side quest!) in because of our insistence on clothing gnomes? Would you have done this anyway? _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Heh, no, not just because of you guys. Ideas are pretty nebulous for me - I couldn't tell you were all of the inspiration for this volume came from exactly, but you can count the forum as one of the sources (And glad you like the sketch!)
Vi! XD We'll see how many of the cards I have left after Calgary
I believe we discussed the matter of conception back when we were discussing the RPG... or something. Anyhow, short answer is: it's not going to happen in the comic so it's not relevant.
They are stuck at their current age while on Earthsong (Alyss is a good example) and don't grow, but do regenerate/heal. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.
