No, no need to apologize. It's one of those things that was momentarily terrifying but turns out to be a very funny story after the fact. Perhaps even more-so because I forgot every bit of fire-safety ever learned.
It's also funnier to me because it could have been disastrous. A cord that was plugged into a socket caught for about two seconds. I tried to throw a dishtowel on it. It's a miracle the house didn't burn down. And now I'm going to be telling people about it for years to come for a good laugh. >>;
Congratulations on the job! I wish you luck in the interview! =)
Today I rewrote my resume. Guh. I have done nothing with my life.
Edit: Last night an arachnid decided to pay me a midnight visit by crawling in my hair. I didn't get a good look at it, but the general size and the speed with which it vanished--along with the fact that I'd just put sheets on my bed that had been in storage for a while--made me suspicious as to its identity. I did a midnight room cleaning, and not managing to find the critter, spent the night in the guest bedroom.
I've had suspicions for years that we have Brown Recluses in our house. And now I'm pretty sure there's one creeping around my room at night. Great. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I feel the same whenever I look at my c.v.
And it was Alegria I saw. Amazing.
Today I was supposed to be seeing my friends but it fell through at the last minute and now I feel a bit depressed because I was really looking forward to it.
Good luck with the job Tin Man!

My reaction exactly. I might stay in the guest bedroom tonight, just to be extra sure.
Today I spent three hours telling someone about Africa. I have no voice, now. I twas nice to be able to find someone to talk about it to, though.

Today I had the day off. North Dakota evidently never got the memo about that whole separation of church and state thing, so we get Good Friday off. It kinda weirds me out.
Today I was ultra-boring, and went to work even though I had the day off. I knew it would be quiet, and NO ONE would interrupt me, so I just went in and got a ton of stuff done. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

We get Good Friday off, too. We also get Easter Monday. Separation of church and state means a lot less at the state level than it does the federal level. My state keeps to the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it.
Today I'm going back to work at the park! So yay! I got my job back! On the downside it is a beautiful day, and it is also the first day the golf course is open this year, and it's a holiday weekend. If I don't survive, you're all invited to my funeral. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Today there was some kid pedalling his push bike - little BMX thing, didn't even have gears - on a 40 mph road. Your 10 year old kid (if that) does not belong, unsupervised, on a main road.
I appreciate, in the bleak concrete world, there's not much else place for him to cycle his bike. But still, there's a pavement right there... technically illegal but <_< no policemen were arrrrround....
No-one squished him or anything but all it takes is for one careless person to come round the corner too fast to stop and, what with being in such a poor road position, he'd be spread all over the tarmac....
:/
Heh - rather fun old song about paratroopers.

Got stuck in a traffic jam for an hour on the motorway. Don't understand people who keep changing lanes and taking advantage of every little thing. They've done studies. One guy stayed in one lane and never exceeded the speed of the traffic around him, the other guy kept changing lanes and cutting people off and....
After an hour they were in almost identical positions, as I recall.
And it must be people who keep taking advantage that keep traffic jams going once they've formed, if you think about it. If you don't let anyone in it just runs back down the surrounding roads, like a... shock-wave in traffic. Except traffic's not a fluid =p
Really not worth the stress. You may as well kick back and take it easy. There were a good 10 minutes where we were more or less stationery where I was mostly drinking tea.... While this guy beside me was hammering away on his horn....
You know, they say have some decorum, but decorum's a bit like a gift you give to those around you, when you think about it. Thought of winding down the window and offering him a cuppa, but I don't think he'd have wanted it somehow. _________________ Never forget,

Haha, Tyris, that's funny! ^_^ made me laugh.
Today I got up at 7 so that I could go out to a moshav (cooperative community) and go hiking in the morning. That was three hours. Spent the rest of the afternoon at the Moshav Country Fair, buying gifts and overpriced food. Came home nine hours after I left and went to return some shoes, but found I had missed the deadline, so I spent 45 minutes trying on other pairs looking for an exchange. I ended up with the same sandals I had last year, which, while not perfect, at least got me through the summer. It's a shame that $100 shoes only last one season. And if these don't fit, I'll try to sell them to someone who has normal feet and give up.
Now I have to shower the grime of a full day of dust away, and then force myself to eat something, and then go to bed. Hurrah for vacation. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Dang. Svalbard? Now THERE'S an off-the-beaten-path destination. I mean, you can get further north in Greenland, but other than that your only option is heading off onto the arctic ice cap. What takes you to Svalbard?
Today I booked tickets down to Denver for my interview. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Yeah, I'm going there to do a course. All the coolest stuff is at the poles (all puns intended) when you're looking at the ocean, and I'll be there for six weeks. Apparently it's at a balmy -9 Celsius at the moment, but it feels like -14.

Haha. And we've had 80 degrees Fahrenheit for the past few days.
Today was tough. I'll be able to lock it away again, but I suppose this means I need to let some pressure off.
Was convinced to watch Shawshank Redemption today, which, I admit, is a good movie. Not least because it's through the eyes of Morgan Freeman. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Good luck with your interview Tin!
Have fun Alli. ^_____^ Stay safe!
Today I had a lot of fun hanging out with a girl from one of my classes. We ate dinner with a mutual friend and had a good time in general.
Enter the world of mini-rants:
Today I am annoyed because my Psychology teacher moved my group presentation a class forward (which is two days forward), which means we're now scrambling to make sure we're ready.
Today I am annoyed because the aforementioned group doesn't seem to care about the quality of our presentation. Right now it's really bad. And I don't see that getting better any time soon. And they refuse to listen to me. *sigh*
Today I am annoyed because another teacher sprung ANOTHER group project on me. I'm not even sure I know the people in my group, and I'm going to have to hunt them down and talk to them about it. Or I could wimp out and send them e-mails.
In respect to group projects, I completely agree with this
Today I am annoyed because I came home to find that my brother had broken one of the house rules that has always been in effect when my parents are out of town. He told me that he forgot. Even though we reminded him of it two days ago. And had an in-depth discussion about it. Arg.
Today I am annoyed because my good mood was ruined. *sigh* _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Re: group projects. Yes. Yes indeed. That's why I try my hardest to work with at most one other person, it affords a much greater aspect of control. Or I find the one person in class I can work with, and try my best to always be in a group with that person. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Group projects just >_> Yeah....

Today read a sort of interesting take on fairytales.

^_^
It actually reminds me of The Last Wish. Which is fairly decent, if you like short stories/fantasy. Though doesn't really go into traditional myths.
Art style's very similar to the old Demonology 101 stuff, don't know if anyone remembers that. It was late 90s early 2000s _________________ Never forget,
